Shyam grew up in Canberra before moving to Melbourne for university in 2011. He completed his MD in 2017 and has since made Melbourne his home. He worked at the Alfred and in emergency departments across the city, before pursuing training in general practice. He enjoys the patient-centred approach of a GP.
Outside of work, Shyam is an avid indoor soccer player. He loves trying new restaurants, watching movies and spending time with his friends and family.
N.B. Shyam does not perform skin cancer checks or excisions.

Fees charged by Dr Shyam Kumar

Dr Kumar’s fees are guided by the AMA recommended rates. Aged Pensioners will be bulk billed. Other concession and Health Care Card holders will be charged a substantially discounted fee.

Patients who hold a DVA card are billed according to DVA Guidelines (see https://www.dva.gov.au/access-benefits/veteran-card). Visits by Gold card holders are almost always billed to DVA, while visits by White card holders can only be billed to DVA for eligible conditions.

Telehealth: consultations are charged at the same rate as face-to-face appointments (see fees above).

Missed Appointment fee:  Dr Kumar may charge a fee if you miss your appointment, and do not cancel with at least four hours’ notice.

Additional service types and fees:
Full payment is charged at the time of the visit, leaving the following out-of-pocket GAP after Medicare reimbursement of the relevant item numbers.

Iron Infusion

An Initial 15 minute appointment would be required to organise the iron infusion. Once completed an hour appointment is required to be booked with the nurse through reception.
